“I’ve tried fifteen stores and over a hundred outfits, but nothing feels right,” you grumbled as you stared at the untouched plate of fries on your lap.  Shuhei reached over and grabbed one of them, but before it reached his mouth, you slapped his hand.  “Don’t touch the fries.”

Shuhei massaged his tingling hand and glared at you slightly.  “What’s wrong with how you look now?  Why the sudden urge to change?”

You face reddened slightly and your expression became suddenly guilty.  This strange reaction caused Shuhei to become quite curious.  He tilted his head slightly.

“I just…want a change is all,” you muttered with a slight shrug.  You tossed the fries into a nearby trashcan and stood, causing Shuhei to sigh at the waste of a perfectly good snack (one that he had tried to take from you mere seconds ago).

“You’re a terrible liar.”

You turned suddenly only to be met face-to-face with the extremely calm Reaper who was now gripping your wrist firmly, yet somehow gently, in his warm hand.  You frowned.

“Well you’re terrible at reading people,” you retorted childishly.  Shuhei grinned slightly.

“Guilty.  Now what’s really going on with you?”

You hesitated; your eyes darted left and right as you shuffled your weight from one foot to the other.  Shuhei tipped his forehead against yours and pulled you back down onto the bench.

“What’s going on, ______?”  He repeated gently.  “You can tell me.”

“No I can’t!”  You snapped irritably.  “Because if I tell you then it defeats the whole purpose of this whole thing!”

Shuhei blinked a few times and straightened his posture.  His hand slipped from your wrist to your hand.  “You’re going to have to give me something.  A hint, a clue.”

You sighed irritably and pointed at the calendar.  “December nineteenth.”

Shuhei opened his mouth, then closed it.  He shook his head.  “Nope.  Still need more.”

“That’s the day we first met officially!  It was the day I…discovered something,” you said reluctantly.  Shuhei groaned and placed his free hand on his head.

“______, this is going to take forever.  Please just spell it out for me,” he begged as you began biting your lower lip nervously.

“I’VE BEEN TRYING TO GET YOU TO NOTICE ME!”  You yelled at the top of your lungs.  Everyone in the shopping district stopped and stared at you.  You laughed nervously and tried to hide your face in your hand.  “I’m so sorry…”

“For what?”  Shuhei peeled your fingers away from your face and held them in his hand so that now both hands were interlocked with his.  He smiled slightly.  “I always notice you.”

“No you don’t.  You ignore me,” you complained flatly.  “You’re always doing something else or talking to someone who isn’t me while I’m right there.”

Shuhei chuckled and scooted closer to you.  His smiled broadened.  “That’s because I’m afraid I’ll do something stupid.”

“Like yell out a stupid confession in a crowd of people?”  You asked, your cheeks still burning crimson.  Shuhei let go of your hands and cupped your face, nodding slightly.

“Something like that.”

As he brought your face towards his, someone cleared their throat loudly.  You both glanced in the direction of the sound and saw Orihime standing there with an awkward expression on her face.

“H-Hi, ______, Shuhei.  I hardly ever see you two here in the world of the living.  You might want to take it somewhere else, though…people are staring.”

You laughed nervously as you realized that she was right.  A little boy holding a cell-phone exclaimed excitedly to his mother, “Look, Mommy!  I just uploaded the video of the crazy lady and her boyfriend to Youtube!”

Shuhei blinked a few times.  “Youtube?”

You shook your head slowly.  “You don’t want to know…”
