Bad Aim
(Romano x Reader 2)

As you walked through the fair, your eyes flickered back and forth between the people and the stalls.  There were vendors, games, and best of all…food!  You could smell an odd mixture of candy-apples, popcorn, and corndogs.  Your grip tightened on Lovino’s arm, causing him to look down at you curiously.  “Lovino, I’m hungry!”

As if agreeing with you, your stomach growled loudly.  Lovino sighed, his face reddening a bit at your closeness.  You grinned.  It was just like the day you met, only he wasn’t covered in a splattered tomato…and he wasn’t angry with you.  Lovino actually hadn’t been angry with you in quite a while, which was odd.  Usually he was yelling at you for one thing or another, but the past month he had been surprisingly calm.  You blinked your eyes cutely at him.

“You’re always hungry…”  Lovino muttered after a moment of looking around for a good food-cart.  Finally, you rolled your eyes and began dragging him towards one that you had had your eye on for the past minute and a half.  His face turned yet another shade of red as you jabbed your finger at the treat that you wanted.

“Look!”  You continued pointing.  “Look at what it is, Lovy!”

Lovino cringed.  He had always hated your nickname for him, but what really scared him was that recently he hadn’t really minded it…actually it sort of made him happy when you called him that name.  It was something only you called him, which made it kind of special.  You tilted your head.  “You haven’t forgotten, have you?”

Lovino pulled himself from his thoughts and shook his head quickly.  His expression turned totally serious.  “Of course not!”

“We’ll take two of these, please~!”  You told the man selling the treats cheerfully.  He handed you two tomatoes on a stick while Lovino rummaged in his pocket for his wallet.

“Say, Lovy, how come people started putting random foods on sticks?  Do they think it makes them more appetizing?”  You took another bite of your tomato then stared at the stick with a curious expression.  Lovino, who had already finished his tomato, twirled the stick idly as watched you out of the corner of his eye.

“How the heck would I know?  It caught your attention,” he said with a slight shrug.  You immediately puffed out your cheeks and shot him a sharp look.

“That’s not what caught my attention and you know it.  I’m feeling nostalgic today,” you muttered.

“Oh really?”  Lovino asked casually.  He tossed the stick over his shoulder carelessly.  “And why’s that?”

You stopped walking.  All of the people behind you walked around you as you stared at Lovino with a heartbroken look.  “You don’t know what today is?”

Lovino shrugged.  He stuffed his hands into his pockets and kept walking.  You stared at him incredulously.

“Lovy!”  As you caught Lovino’s elbow, he turned quickly, causing you to stumble into his chest.  You blushed as he grinned down at you and placed one hand on your shoulder.  “Lovy…?”

You felt a gentle pressed against your palm as Lovino slipped something in between your loosely curled fingers.  Your eyes flickered to the object to see a small box.  You arched an eyebrow questioningly.

“Just open it,” Lovino sighed.  You did so, a bit hesitantly.  Inside was a golden chain and connected to it was a small charm.  It was a tomato.  The fruit itself was a glittering ruby and the stem was made of emerald.  Lovino tucked his fingers under the chain and held it up, letting the charm dangle in mid-air.  It sparkled in the dim evening light, entrancing you.  “May I?”

You found yourself speechless.  Eventually you managed a nod.  Lovino smiled, with a sort of pride, as he hooked the necklace around your neck and let his knuckles brush against your collarbone.  His face, for once, wasn’t red.  This time it was you who were blushing.  You felt your heart swell from happiness.  Tears blurred your vision as you tried to keep an emotional outburst from surfacing.  Lovino’s eyes went wide as he saw your face.  “W-What’s wrong, ______?  Do you not like-”

You immediately cut the brunette off by throwing your arms around his neck.  Lovino was stiff for a moment before finally relaxing and wrapping his arms around your waist.  He closed his eyes and rested his head on top of yours, inhaling your scent, and for once the hot-headed brunette felt totally calm and at peace…until someone cleared their throat, interrupting his and your “perfect moment”.

As Lovino opened one eye, he immediately stiffened again.  You turned your head to see that a large crowd was gathered around you and in front was Francis, who, much to your amusement, had a stick tangled in his blond locks.

“Why don’t you watch where you are throwing things?!”  His accent seemed extra thick when he was angry.  “I can’t get it out!”

You could feel Lovino start trembling.  His whole face and neck turned ruby red.  You sighed and began counting down in your head.

‘3…

2…

1…’

You stuffed your fingers in your ears as a stream of profanity poured from Lovino’s mouth.  As he ranted, your eyes flickered to the charm lying against your chest.  A goofy smile sprawled across your face.  ‘He can be so sweet when he wants to be…but it looks like I’m not the only one with bad aim~!’

THE END~
This is part two of the request from TheCupcakeTurtle .  I was really happy with how this one turned out...I just really love Hetalia LOL.  This is my first Romano fan-fic so I hope I did his character justice.  The request was a Romano x Reader involving Lovino getting hit by a tomato and it had to have a bit of fluff.  I hope I combined the two well to give the person who requested this what they wanted :).  Thank you so much for reading and I look forward to reading your comments n_n!  (For information on requesting stories, please click the link below)

I would call that good aim if you ask me, my sister can't even make a stick hit a tree when she is right next to it.
